I have never heard of “Montessori” Education which is an early childhood Education in my younger years until I took a two year course in “Montessori Education” at Korea Montessori Institute located at Gwangmyeong.  I only knew that kindergarten classes are where kids only involved in classes in reading, storytelling telling, singing and art and craft classes. But those childhood education seems to be always much commercialized than individual development.
Why do I comment that the normal childhood education is more commercialized?  The normal childhood education usually consist a big classes of 12 or more children with only one teacher to guide them. Montessori classes are always small in which the directress lead.  In Montessori Education, there are 5 main categories which is Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Culture. These are to target in enhancing in development a child’s five senses. The reason is that a child from birth to 6 years old, they are very sensitive to their environment and during these time, their absorbent rate in learning is extremely high. The children are able to develop of functional independence, task persistence and self-regulation. Attributes such as respect, clear communication, confident, good behavior development as well as refinement of sensory perception and the development of literacy and enhancing mathematical acumen. Even allowing opportunities for imaginative exploration that can lead to confident, creative self-expression in a child. During my years of working in a Montessori kindergarten. I have witness children who are easy agitated into a much calmer, confident and independent personality. And working with their hands with deep concentration and enjoyment as well.
I truly saw what immense transformation of these children while they were having their education using the “Montessori” way. In normal kindergarten, I have observe that their concentration span was always short. Unlike Montessori materials, their minds are able to focus and not with wondering mind and even for a longer time. Montessori education is not only IQ development but also EQ development in a child. I highly recommend “Montessori Education”.
